Letter_AM Smith Supports Kuechler

Anne Morton Smith Supports Kuechler

I am writing to offer my personal endorsement of Pam Kuechler for Selectboard. In my view, she brings the level‑headed, fair‑minded, experienced, and compassionate leadership that Fairhaven needs as we navigate complex challenges in both finance and policy.

Pam has a long and meaningful record of service to our community. Most recently, she stepped forward to serve on the committee responsible for selecting our next town administrator. Her fifteen years on the School Committee have given her a deep understanding not only of the issues facing our schools, but also of municipal finance and the broader needs of the Town. Many residents know how difficult our relationship with State school‑funding rules can be; throughout those challenges, Pam has consistently worked toward communication, collaboration, and practical solutions. Many people in town describe her as a bridge- builder, and I believe that is exactly what Fairhaven needs right now.

In her role as executive director of PACE in New Bedford, Pam has developed a strong understanding of the needs of economically disadvantaged residents. She knows how to balance those needs with the interests of the community as a whole, and she has built productive relationships with partners at both the State and Federal levels. Her experience managing complex financial and organizational responsibilities is a tremendous asset for Fairhaven.

Pam’s deep roots in both Fairhaven and New Bedford, as well as her strong connections throughout the region, create opportunities for new partnerships that can help move Fairhaven forward as a vibrant coastal community. She is committed to strengthening our economic future by making the most of our unique waterfront assets while also protecting the character and quality of life that residents value.

At a time when Fairhaven faces important decisions about its future, we need someone who listens, understands all sides, and remains committed to the people of this town. I believe Pam Kuechler is that person. I hope you will join me in voting for her for Fairhaven Selectboard on June 9.

Anne Morton Smith, Fairhaven
