Letter Why vote for Rick Trapilo

May 27, 2026 by Staff Writer

Why Vote for Rick Trapilo?

I will be casting my vote for Rick Trapilo because I believe he will be a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility and a common-sense advocate for us hard-pressed taxpayers of this town. In particular the working class and the US senior citizens who are dependent on Social Security and struggle to pay every day expenses together with the ever-increasing cost of utilities.

Rick Trapilo is I believe highly qualified for the position of selectman. He is very civic minded. He has a degree in business administration and has served on many committees one being the Planning Board of our town.

What I like and appreciate is his common-sense approach to economic development. He fully understands the fact that the government is dependent upon the private sector to fund it and in turn the role of business and services is to generate the tax dollars to fund it.

A case in point, Rick has taken up the issues of Atlas Tack. I am glad he did. From my point of view this property should be utilized for manufacturing. The EPA spent millions to clean it up. I believe it would be great if some business or manufacturer of electronic components or solar panels or something similar came in there, thereby generating some tax dollars, and jobs for our students when they graduate.

Another point I would like to make is I do appreciate the role of the government. I would like to single out a few departments that deserve respect and appreciation. Starting with the police, they put their lives on the line when they put on a badge and strap on a gun and go out to serve us. The EMS workers and firemen and women, too.

A final point I would like to make is that if the Proposition 2 1/12 override passes it will prove to be Pandora’s Box for ever increasing tax increases.
