Undecided Voters, Stay Home
With all the chaos, outrageous rhetoric, and existential threats, any voter who remains undecided now should stay home on election day. Not having paid attention, or far worse, not caring about the future of the United States, despite all the unequivocal warning signs, the undecided voter’s apathy is a genuine threat to democracy.
Waiting until the last minute to decide indicates that the voter could be motivated by a completely inconsequential event, or their complacency indicates indifference to the right to vote.
Interestingly the right vote in a national election could become a mandatory obligation under an autocratic regime and in so many tyrannical nations voting is monitored, and choosing not to participate and be seen at polling venues is penalized officially or by employers or neighbors.
In view of each party’s position that this election could be the death knell of democracy a large swath of undecided or indifferent voters who choose the most threatening candidate based on some undeliverable promise, irrational grievance or fear could truly be the end of secure and honest elections.
