Support Powers For Re-Election
The move to a five-member Select Board gives Fairhaven an incredible opportunity for forward movement, and we are all pretty jazzed about our choices in a race that is really starting to heat up. We get to choose THREE! Such richness.
Which brings me to my point: I submit that we should all consider choosing just TWO new members for the Select Board. We made a choice just last summer to send Stasia Powers to Town Hall. She has really only just begun to show us what she can do. I firmly believe we should give her a chance to advance our town as a member of this board.
Like many, I am deeply appreciative of the work that the three individuals at that historic Town Hall table have been able to come together on. Where once was discord, we now watch this positive three-way relationship unfold productively. It doesn’t happen without active discussion, and Ms. Powers is no “yes woman’ or shrinking violet. She is not shy about bringing her ideas and opinions forward respectfully and helpfully, encouraging discourse and progress. As these three have worked together, a solid foundation for the addition of two new members from our strong cohort of candidates has been built.
We are all relieved that there is light at the end of the Town Administrator Hiring Process Tunnel. My spirit leapt when Ms. Powers firmly stated that there was no reason to delay the process any further, and it was time to interview the fully qualified candidate without waiting for more options. Outside this hottest of topics, Ms. Powers is clearly committed to Fairhaven’s advancement, thoughtfully setting goals with her colleagues and taking steps toward their implementation.
The work of the past seven months has been blessedly quiet, but if you’ll forgive the pun, it has also powered us toward our brightest future. Let’s stay the course even as we widen the road. Please vote Stasia Powers for Select Board on April 3.
