While I do realize there is an upcoming recall vote, I do understand Town Meeting voted to expand our existing Select Board members to five. I will say we do have a group of good people interested in serving in this capacity. I would like to recommend Cam Durant for a position on the board. Having served as a Selectman in the past, I do understand the responsibilities of running this community. A person needs to be kind, respectful, smart, have knowledge of the community, understand the function of our town government and above all, know how to bring people together. I do believe Cam Durant has the right stuff to do great things in our town.
Cam’s service on the Board of Public Works has given him the total knowledge of our infrastructure, our town above ground and below. He understands the major issues like the federally mandated nitrogen removal upgrades, and many other needed upgrades regarding our services. These issues will need real knowledge and the understanding to solve them. Cam’s done a great job on the Board of Public Works and deserves our confidence in him.
Cam will bring his knowledge in human resources with him to the Select Board. Cam is a Certified Human Resource professional and that knowledge is so important to all of us. Understanding personnel issues, hiring process, diversity, employment laws, the list is long. In regards to diversity, I personally feel great about what he will bring to the office. We have long awaited a person with this type of knowledge. One of the major issues facing our town employees are the high costs of health insurance, and Cam is well versed in finding real solutions. Please give Cam consideration, he is the right person at the right time for the right reasons.
