Grossman Has It Wrong
In rebuttal to Stephen Grossman’s letter (4/10/23), I say we are not a nation founded on the circumstance of fate. I believe we wer founded on the providence of God. In essence we are a nation that honors and reveres God and is blessed by Him.
Starting with the Pilgrims seeking religious freedome and the signers of our Constitution who risked their lives by signing it and leaders like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln who were men of faith, many were Christians.
There is one fundamental difference between Christianity and all other religions, that being love. Summed up in the Bible John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only sone so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life.”
I believe that you cannot please God without faith. This is not a blind leap in the dark. I believe God has given us all a sense there is more to this world than you can see, feel, and touch. He has given us the Holy Bible, a book written by men who were isnpired by the Holy Spirit. There are many archaeological records and writings that substantiate it. There are more historical accounts and writings. That Jesus was born, lived, taught, was crucified and has risen than any other of that period.
God is an all knowing, powerful, and yes a jealous God. As stated in the first commandment, thou shall have no other gods before Me. God didn’t creaet us as robots, he has given us the will to choose.
We live in a period of history that at no time have so many enjoyed the freedoms we have. I saw we were founded by a nation of faith who believed in the Bible as the word of God and the men and women who fought and died to establish it and defend it.
