Letter: Gallagher supports Correy

July 14, 2021 by Staff Writer

Gallagher Supports Correy

Last fall when I decided to enter the race for a seat on the Fairhaven Board of Health, I recognized that what was missing was the first rule of holes: the first step in getting out of one is to stop digging! Maybe the people of Fairhaven would recognize my interest in moving forward to fairly confront present and future challenges. But job one was simple, stop the digging!

In a few weeks, three talented people will be on the ballot hoping to bring the same simple task to the Select Board. For the betterment of this community, please stop making the hole we are in any deeper.

Leon Correy is one of those candidates. He is a newcomer to the Fairhaven election scene, has impressive academic and professional credentials, and an incredible father and loving husband. His curiosity about the roots of our problems speaks to his desire to not simply fix but to change.

I started my campaign early. The only other person running at the time was Leon, for the Select Board seat on the ballot in 2022. Leon saw a problem and stepped out very early to let us know he was serious about bringing change. Now, circumstances have placed his name on the ballot one full year earlier than he, or us, expected.

And that is a good thing for Fairhaven.

I am supporting Leon Correy for Select Board for his willingness to step up, speak out and solve, not just Band-Aid over, Fairhaven’s problems.  He is a person I respect and admire.

On July 26th, I will be voting for Leon Correy for Fairhaven Select Board. Our future starts by dropping the shovels.
