Ferro says “Thank You”
Dear people of Fairhaven,
For the past three years, I had the privilege of serving you in elected office as one of the five commissioners on the Board of Public Works.
However, due to the growing responsibilities in my professional career as a talk radio host on WBSM, as well as working in the nonprofit sector, I have decided to resign from my position on the BPW.
The public works department in any town or city provides the most fundamental services that people expect from their municipal government: water, sewer, trash collection, and the maintenance of roads and public spaces.
During my time on the BPW we were able to oversee major projects that will save ratepayers money such as upgrades to the treatment plants and an overhaul of the water meter systems.
We also made key personnel decisions that ensure our Department of Public Works is in capable hands for the foreseeable future.
Most importantly, we were able to add accessibility mats for the Town Beach on West Island and purchase a new beach wheelchair that will allow those who use assisted mobility devices the ability to enjoy the most pristine shores in the Commonwealth.
I want to thank the hard working employees of the BPW, as well as Superintendent Vinnie Furtado, Office Manager Rebecca Vento and BPW Chair Brian Wotton for their experienced and steady-handed leadership.
Thanks to my fellow commissioners who I had the honor of serving with: Anne Smith, Cameron Durant, Frank Coelho, Travis Rapoza, Steve Riley and Hoppy. And most of all, I want to thank the people of Fairhaven for the opportunity to serve them in elected office as a Board of Public Works Commissioner.
Marcus D. Ferro, Esq., Fairhaven
