Cam Durant is Clear Choice
After a brief period of turbulence, the people of Fairhaven are blessed with two additional seats on the Select Board and a slate of well-qualified candidates to occupy the three seats that are up for election. The primary purpose of an expanded five-person Selectboard is to invite a qualified group of people to carry out the executive duties of Town government with pragmatism and diversity of thought. With that in mind, one candidate I will certainly be pulling the lever for is my friend and colleague Cam Durant.
I have known Cam for many years and since we were young he has always demonstrated a passion for civics and government that well predated mine. I have also served alongside him on the Board of Public Works for the last two years, and in that time I have seen Cam respond swiftly to constituent concerns, speak on the policy and workings of municipal government with clarity, and devise pragmatic solutions to issues that need to be addressed.
Cam’s time on the Board of Public Works has prepared him well for the Select Board, developing a strong sense of fiscal management having overseen the Town’s largest capital projects, and implementing policies that deliver some of the most essential services that municipal government provides such as managing public infrastructure and overseeing the natural resources that define Fairhaven’s small town charm.
For qualified leadership that will provide a fresh perspective on municipal issues, Cam Durant is a clear choice to usher in the new era of Fairhaven’s Selectboard.
