Leon Correy for Select Board
On April 4th, you will ask yourself, “whom should I vote for”, “does it really matter”? Well the answer is your vote counts more in a town election than in a national election and yes it does matter.
Our town is growing along with the rest of the world. Therefore, we need strong Select Board members who communicate and have the best interest for our town to lead us forward. Today I will tell you why you need to vote Leon Correy for Select Board.
During Covid 2020, like the rest of Fairhaven voters, I tuned in to watch many town meetings via Channel 18. To my dismay I watched the Select Board meetings crumble. It was a total embarrassment watching three elected officials engage in conflicts trying to reach any type of decision. For this reason Fairhaven Voters held a Special Election after Freitas was recalled.
During this time, I first met Leon Correy as he reached out to talk with voters 1: His goal was to have people learn who he was and what he believed in. My first question was “why do you want to become a selectman” and without hesitation, Leon went on to explain his concern within the select board meetings. He too sat watching the meetings and knew something needed to be done.
After listening to Leon, I saw his vision for our town “To represent Fairhaven with respect, fight for the needs of others and bring us forward as we unite. I knew he was sincere and was running for the right reasons.
Leon Correy, a Boston College undergraduate in Mathematics and University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Finance speaks volume.
Leon, a newcomer to our town, had quickly fallen in love with Fairhaven after involvement with the Wood School staff, parents and pupils during his daughter’s academic years. As a sign of appreciation Leon and his wife provided food including an ice cream truck to the 5th grade graduation class as Covid tried to ruin their celebration.
Since 2020 Leon’s accomplishments have included: Wood School Council, Sustainability Committee with nomination to Vice Chair, Town Administrator Search Vice Chair, Founder and Chair of the Belonging Committee.
Personal achievements are: meeting with Representative Wm, Straus to have an electric walk sign at the intersection of Alden and Rte. 6, portable toilets placed on bike path, providing water for seniors during the weeks of unsafe drinking water, appreciation lunch for DPW and was even spotted shoveling out a handicap senior during the largest winter snow storm this winter.
Leon isn’t afraid of commitment and looks for ways to show appreciation. He uses a positive approach. So as Election Day, April 4th, approaches I hope you share my sentiment and vote Leon Correy for Select Board.
