A Storm is Brewing in Town Hall
Please be advised a Storm is brewing within the halls of our beautiful and historic Town Hall. It was first sighted over a larger office space within the building and it continues to grow in strength without concern by the Select Board!
Evolving in velocity it continues on a path of destruction with no regard to the historic integrity of the building itself. Soon the grand oak doors of every office may be overhauled*, not to mention termination of employment if disagreement is expressed within the ranks!
The Selectmen’s office is not home to the Tax Collector because of desire and envy of another’s office space. Not content the path of determination is to destroy historic wood working that my compromise building integrity*.
Is it not enough that we are now greeted by staff behind plexiglass shields due to Covid? I’m aware that change may be inevitable but must it intrude on the destruction of historial value and the feeling of hometown camaraderio?
I have not divulged the Storm by name as I too may be subjected to retribution for expressing my opinion.
Bear in mind when interviewed and asked the reason for leaving last place of employment the response was “Not a good fit.” Maybe Fairhaven isn’t the right fit eitehr and it’s time for the Select Board to step up!
Bernice Alves, Fairhaven
*Editor’s Note: No structural changes to the building have been even remotely discussed. No woodwork or wainscotting has been disturbed. No doors have been overhauled. The two offices simply switched spaces, and the Collector’s Office counter is slated to be moved to the office where the collector’s office is now.
