PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Fairhaven Conservation Commission will hold the following Public Hearings pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (M.G.L. c. 131, s. 40) and the Code of the Town of Fairhaven Chapter 192, Wetlands:
a. CON-19-044 35 Alder Street Notice of Intent filed by Lee and Elizabeth Stewart to demolish the existing cottage and construct a 2-story single-family dwelling in compliance with FEMA and Mass Building Code for construction within a Velocity Zone at the property located at 35 Alder Street, Assessors Map 43A, Lots 65 and 66. Work to take place in Land Subject to Coastal Storm Flowage/Zone VE.
b: CON-19-045 8 Chambers Street Request for Determination of Applicability filed by Christopher and Teresa Augenti for the construction of a 16’ x 28’ accessory building at the property located at 8 Chambers Street, Assessors Map 41, Lot 58. Work to take place in Land Subject to Coastal Storm Flowage/Zone VE.
Copies of the applications listed in this hearing notice may be viewed at the Conservation Office in Town Hall, located at 40 Center Street, Fairhaven, MA.
The Fairhaven Conservation Commission will also hold a Public Hearing to seek public comment on the proposed Protection of Buffer Zone article as an amendment to the Fairhaven Wetlands Bylaw (Chapter 192).
In order to protect and preserve the public interests and values of the wetlands and waterways of the Town of Fairhaven, activities in Wetland and Buffer Zone Resource Areas should be avoided to the fullest extent practicable. Based on available information, the Conservation Commission has determined that, generally, maintenance of an undisturbed vegetative buffer zone and associated setbacks will serve to protect most wetland resource areas from adverse impacts related to development elsewhere within the Buffer Zone.
Any persons or organizations interested in providing comments and/or asking questions will be given the opportunity to be heard.
