New Bedford Rowing Center is kicking off the season with adult Learn-to-Row courses beginning June 4th at NBRC’s Pope’s Island Boathouse. Adult beginners of all ages will learn the basics of boat handling and rowing technique, enabling them to row safely and with confidence in modern, sliding-seat, four- and eight-oared “shells” like those used in the annual Head of the Charles Regatta each October.
The NBRC Learn-to-Row Program consists of twelve hours of instruction, divided into eight on-the-water sessions, lasting four weeks. New courses begin monthly, June through August, with a choice of days and times.
Graduates of the Learn-to-Row Program will be able to participate–at no additional cost– in adult “open row” sessions throughout the season as members of the NBRC Masters Program.
Committed to programs that reflect and celebrate the diversity of Greater New Bedford, NBRC welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to discover the joy of rowing by signing up for a LTR course via the NBRC website: newbedfordrowing.org/programs-schedule/
