Fairhaven Conservation and Sustainability Agent Bruce Webb decided to “further confuse Scottish and Irish culture,” by wearing his kilt all day on St. Patrick’s Day and playing the bagpipes (which are Scottish, dontchaknow?) in front of town hall.
Mr. Webb has been playing the bagpipes since he was 12 years old. He grew up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, a place that was and is “ridiculously Scottish,” he said. It is home to the oldest continuous Highland games outside Scotland, which include athletic contests, dancing, and piping.
