Hundreds turn out for NFIA annual egg hunt

April 20, 2017 by Fairhave Neighborhood News

By Beth David, Editor

The weather this year was decidedly warmer than last year as hundreds of children and their adults lined up at top of the hill at Livesey Park in Fairhaven for the annual egg hunt on Saturday, 4/15.

Children were split up by age into the various playgrounds to give the younger kids a fair shake. Candy eggs and wooden eggs were strewn about the place by volunteers. The colorfully painted wooden eggs, numbering close to 200, each had a number on it, which corresponded to a prize.

The raffle included Easter baskets donated by local businesses and individuals, and a giant stuffed animal.

“It’s nice for the kids,” said Pat Medeiros. “We did it when we were kids, now we’re doing it with our grandkids.”

It was not lost on the children that they were in a playground. Many gave up looking for eggs pretty quickly and started playing on the slides, swings, climbing bars and other equipment.

Children also had the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny and have pictures taken together.

The event is sponsored by the North Fairhaven Improvement Association is free and open to the public.
