Press Release
Howe Allen Realty is proud to announce the opening of their new office in Fairhaven Center at 18 Center Street. Howe Allen Realty has been a presence in town since 2010, specializing in distinctive, historic and coastal homes.
The office space is designed to be a welcoming environment for its agents as well as the public. With a mix of antique and modern furnishings, the office is envisioned as a comfortable place for the public to stop in and interact with agents and staff.
Formerly located at 43 Center Street, the growing agency, which now consists of over 20 agents, felt constrained by its small office footprint. The larger office space not only will help by providing flexible work space for its agents, but it will provide a venue for first-time home buyer classes as well as other real estate-related classes. A grand piano is even in the space to provide entertainment at other events.
“We live here, we work here” says founder and broker Howe Allen.
As a locally-owned agency, Howe Allen Realty takes pride in participating in community events, and sponsoring various events and fundraisers in the area, with the sincere belief that they are invested in the success of the community. Additionally the local focus lends expertise in the practice of real estate. Howe Allen Realty helps sellers and buyers from Rhode Island to Cape Cod with various agents specializing in different communities.
Howe has had a long history in real estate. He got his start in real estate at the age of 5 when he would attend showings of homes with his mother, who was a real estate broker in Vermont. He worked for years in the corporate Insurance world, and began a full time career in real estate again in 2005. He founded Howe Allen Realty in 2008 in Boston and soon after moved to Fairhaven’s West Island and brought his business with him. He is a self-trained designer, having renovated, remodeled and decorated many homes.
The building is also the home of the George H. Taber Lodge, and was a gift of Henry Huttleston Rogers. Every building he built had some means of supporting itself financially, and the Taber Lodge building was no exception. It was built with a first floor commercial space. The rent collected by the lodge could go to help support the maintenance of the building. In the 1930’s the space was the showroom of a Ford dealership.
Howe says “You used to be able to buy a car here, now you can buy a home!
An open house for the public is scheduled on July 27th from 4–6 p.m.
