Horribles parade moves to the park

The North Fairhaven Improvement Association’s Halloween Horribles Parade had a different feel this year. The whole event took place inside Livesey Park instead of marching down Main Street to St. Mary’s Church. It was also held on Saturday, 10/25/24, instead of the last Sunday before Halloween, the traditional date.

NFIA president Andrew Romano said the organization wanted to have a rain date. Last year they got rained out and had thousands of pieces of candy with no home. So they moved it to Saturday, but the church has a service at 4:30, and the parade starts at 5. So they decided to try something new. The parade went around the perimeter of the park, and the procession for prizes marched around cones in the middle of the field.

“We’re also trying to encourage use of the park more,” said Mr. Romano.

In addition to free treat bags and hot chocolate, a costume contest handed out prizes for first, second and third place for Most Horrible, Most Original, Most Beautiful in different age groups.

Judges were Miss Southeastern Mass. Teen, Jaime St. Onge; Miss Apple Peach, Madison Cabucio; Jr. Miss Apple Peach, Willow Niles.
