Hanukkah/Kwanzaa paddle celebrates everyone

January 8, 2025 by Staff Writer

Lynne Israelson Mason took to the water on her stand-up paddle on New Year’s Day (brrrr) to celebrate the holidays. She took her Hanukkah Menorah and Kwanzaa decoration to celebrate the two holidays that ended on New Year’s Day and paddled out into the harbor from the Pease Street boat ramp.

Lynne loves to celebrate all holidays. In the decoration she is wearing, you can see the word “Umoja,” which is Swahili for “unity,” the first of the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
