Please join us Mon., 3/25, at 4:30 p.m. on the steps of City Hall in New Bedford on Williams Street to celebrate the 197th year of Greek Independence. Taking its inspiration from our American struggle for liberty and independence, the Greek people raised the Blue and White banner of revolt against the Ottoman Empire at the Lavra monastery on March 25, 1821. After a long struggle and with the help of many other friends of Greece, in 1829 they were successful. We will raise the Greek flag in that same spirit of freedom that they did so many years ago.
The event is free to the public.
