Happy Birthday!
Therese Ledoux is 103. Wow.
Unfortunately, her family was not able to have a traditional party due to the restrictions. Fortunately, though, they didn’t let those restrictions stop them from showing the family matriarch some love (see page 12). She has had quite the life, and is very well known in Acushnet and Fairhaven.
We also caught wind of a 10-year-old who had her own car parade for her birthday, too (see page 13).
I think it’s great that our fire and police departments are helping to make these events special. Having a fire truck and police cruisers roll down your street leading a parade of cars just to wish you a happy birthday is a cool thing, if you’re 103 or 10.
We have some meeting coverage for you this week. The Fairhaven Selectboard pushed out town meeting another week. But the election is still on for 6/8.
Also, we have a special issue coming up. The high school is sponsoring a special Neighb News edition for the graduating seniors (see ad on page 3). The community is invited to join in on this special issue, and we have special, very low rates to make it easy for anyone to participate who wants to.
The seniors won’t have a traditional ceremony this year. It’s one of my favorite events. I always try to get some pictures of the kids celebrating as they get their diplomas. There’s usually one or two who put on a little show. But, just taking their pictures as they sit and sing and look around at each other is also lots of fun.
None of that this year, of course. But I’ll do my very best to make it a really, really special issue.

We’re still hanging in here during this crazy time. I truly hope our restaurants will be able to weather this storm and come back.
