So, Mr. Carr is at it again, being a bully in a public meeting. He wants a retraction from the Neighb News.
I think not.
In our 6/13 issue, we wrote: “In somewhat of a curiosity, however, the ‘waterfront was added back in in January,’ according to Dillon Sussman of Dobson & Flinker. He did not elaborate on why. *
“With the addition of the waterfront, the district now encompasses property owned by Planning Board members Patrick Carr and Ruy DaSilva. The PB will need to hold public hearings for the bylaw and will be the board that submits it to town meeting for approval.”
What exactly do you want me to retract, Mr. Carr? All of that is true. I reported on what happened at the meeting. No one explained at that meeting why your property was added into the district. So, no retraction is warranted. Nothing is incorrect. I invite you to send a letter to the editor.
And, let me reiterate, you and Mr. DaSilva should NOT be deliberating and voting on the 40R district. It does not matter why your properties were put back in. The fact is that they ARE included and there is not a benefit to at least 10% of the Fairhaven population (look it up). Only a small portion of the population will get a nice little spike in property values. Again, it does not matter that you have no intention of selling. The benefit is there.
And, you know what else? This is getting tiresome, constantly having to explain this as if you’re a five-year-old too dense to absorb the information. But, hey, the rules don’t apply to everyone the same way, right? People with money, people with property, tall guys.
Whatever.
See page 4 for all that stuff. And remember, these meetings are all recorded and available on demand at FairhavenTV.com. So, when they tell you what a hack I am, and what a mess my journalism is, pick a meeting and see for yourself.
Then, go back to your life and relax. As my former reporter, Jean, liked to say: “I go to these meetings so you don’t have to.”
However, a little wine and popcorn with these meetings can be better than a night at the movie theater. Just saying.
Moving on…
This is our last issue before our summer break. We are not publishing on 7/4 & 7/11. Happy 4th!
Meanwhile, there are all kinds of fun events happening: Homeoming this weekend; July 4 parade, car cruise and cannon FIRE; an outdoor movie night; the start of the Concerts Under the Stars. See pages 3, 5, 6, 7 for all that.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. So, check out each and every page and be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
*GULP….apparently, Mr. Sussman did say a 40B was proposed for the neighborhood. Sorry, it was so quick, I missed it. The appropriate corrections have been made on the articles and a correction is in the 7/18/24 printed edition.
