Okay, have we ascertained yet that simply not mentioning your pecker is not exactly a high standard? Well, it’s a start, I guess. See page 4 for the end of the hearing on Gary Lavalette’s removal from the Historical Commission.
Mr. Lavalette has accused Select Board chairperson Leon Correy of a few things because he had an acquaintance with a key witness against Mr. Lavalette. Really, folks, we’ve been through this before. Fairhaven is not a huge city. And, I admit, we’re not exactly a tiny town, but we’re small enough; small enough so that anyone on any board is very likely to encounter someone they know. Guidelines on that stuff are pretty simple: If you can’t be objective, or if money is involved in your relationship, then you need to recuse yourself.
I guess we’ll let the Ethics Commission sort it out.
We had a doozy of a storm blast through here this week. The intense part only lasted a few minutes, but wow it made an impact. Mattapoisett actually had a tornado. That’s scary stuff. See page 12 for some great pics by John Maciel of flooding in Fairhaven.
Our own Lori Leal won a car race at the Seekonk Speedway. See page 13 for some cool pics and a pitch for you to go out there and slam the pedal to the metal.
NFIA is having its annual music night this weekend (see page 3). Always a fun time with dancing in the street. And tonight is the last concert in the center (see page 3). They dance in the street there, too. There’s other stuff in here, of course. Please be sure to notice who our advertisers are and let them know you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya
