Winter is sure being stubborn this year, but it looks like we will finally get warmer weather just about the time this baby hits the streets.
That’s good news, too, because all the seasonal events are back and they are outside.
On Sunday, it’s the West Island 5K (see page 5); a couple of Arbor Day events on Saturday (page 5), and other outdoor activities coming up soon (pages 5, 8, 9).
Our cover story is one of my favorites (see page 12). What fun… even more so when the kids get so eager that they start running before they ’sposed to.
No problem. It’s all in good fun.
We got some fun pictures.
Speaking of pictures…wow. Margie Joseph got the coolest shots of an osprey making its nest on one of the platforms. See page 6 for those.
The Scouts were at the Fire Department last week. How cute are they? (See page 7). I swiped that from the Facebook page.
This Friday is Earth Day (see page 18). The event started in 1970 to save the earth. I’m afraid we haven’t been doing a great job of that, and so many entities, mostly businesses, of course, are trying to take us backwards.
We can’t let them do that to us. Just look at the pictures Margie took. The Ospreys disappeared from these parts for decades, but now they are back.
The egrets were also gone 30 years ago, and they are back in huge numbers. Even the heron is back, and a Blue Heron at that.
We need to keep fighting. We need to take care of our one and only home.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. As you check it all out, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then…see ya,
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
