Well, this is getting old. We misquoted someone again. I guess someone else’s voice just sounds like him (see below ).
This is one of the annoying limitations of remote meetings. Even in person it can be difficult to know who’s talking, unless you have a good and competent chairperson who makes sure people identify themselves. Yeah…like that’s about to happen in a Fairhaven Selectboard meeting, right? LOL indeed.
Meanwhile, it’s almost DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME! Woohoo! It’s already staying lighter at night, and we even had a couple of warm days. But after Saturday, we go head first into spring. So…I changed my picture to a warm weather activity. I know, kind of pushing it, but… oh, are we ready or what?
Looks like the Selectboard is going to go through with the extra interview for the non-finalist for the top job in town government. For the record, I have no problem giving the in-house candidate an interview, even if she didn’t make the finalist list on her own merits. But it should’ve been done with all the other interviews. One of the qualified candidates has already accepted another job offer. We might lose the other two as well. Oh, gee, what am I doing? I’m acting as if it’ll be a fair process with a real interview and the other two have more than a snowball’s chance in hell.
Silly me. The fix is in, I fear. But…who knows. These guys change their minds mid-sentence.
There’s plenty of other good stuff in here, of course, including an introduction to Fairhaven’s new Youth Librarian (see page 7).
Well, out of room. Be sure to tell our advertisers you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then,
See ya…
CORRECTION
In our article on the Rogers School project in last week’s issue, some quotes were misattributed to Doug Brady, who sits on the Rogers School Re-use Committee. Mr. Brady was not the person who said the height of the project would “black out the entire block,” or use the term “sun out.” He also did not say “If you want to build that kind of a project, then I say find another place.” There is no doubt those words were spoken, but by another person. We attribute the error to the forced use of remote means to cover meetings and the failure of the chairperson to have people identify themselves when they speak. We apologize for any confusion our error may have caused. And we apologize to Mr. Brady in particular.
