Oh, Fairhaven Selectboard, you are the gift that keeps on giving…that is if you consider it a gift to be totally embarrassed by your elected official who’s a big manbaby…um…local guy… not that guy in the White House (48 more days!!!!).
But I digress. Selectboard Chairperson Dan Freitas actually told board member Bob Espindola that people “can’t stand” him…right after he said the same about the Neighb News. I had Mr. Freitas pegged at about 12 years old for his clearly stunted development. Apparently, I was too generous. He’s more like six. See page 4 for that, or fire up the computer or channel 18 with a batch of popcorn.
We have a new column starting this week. Elizabeth DaCunha was looking for a new challenge. Okay, she’s 14, most of her challenges are new, right?
Anyway, she is participating in the hybrid remote-one-week, in-person-one-week model at Fairhaven High School. With no extra curricular activities due to COVID-19, she needed something different to do.
She will be writing about pandemic life in high school. Check out her column on page 11 and let us know what you think. I think she did a terrific job, and I look forward to reading about how the students are handling school in the pandemic.
Looks like we’ll have to run a story about hunting in these parts. There’s some Facebook chatter that has people up in arms because hunters were out there with their shotguns along the bike path. We ran the dates and a warning a few weeks back, but I guess it won’t hurt to run a new one. Shotgun season for deer is only two weeks. But archery goes to the end of the year, and black powder will open up on 12/14 and go to 12/31, so there will still be hunters out there. They are not doing anything illegal or wrong just because you see them. Wear blaze orange if you are nervous about hunters not seeing you. There is no hunting on Sundays, so you’ll have the woods to yourself then.
There’s other good stuff in here, of course. Take your time as you thumb through. Be sure to notice who our advertisers are and let them know you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
See ya (from a distance)
