Well, here it is, the much anticipated (by me, anyway) last issue of 2021.
I have to say I am seriously looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Not only will I be free of deadlines, I will be free to seek out Santa! He’ll be cruising through Fairhaven on Saturday (see page 3) and having breakfast in Acushnet on Sunday (see page 9).
I think he’ll be around in other places, too, but I don’t have his entire itinerary.
Hmm…the guy is all over the place and he needs Christmas magic to do it all, so…what itinerary, huh?
I hope you will all try to keep the spirit of Christmas in your hearts this season.
Take a drive to see the lights (see pages 12, 13). It costs very little to drive around and it is so much fun. There are lots of houses that are decorated, not just the few we listed here.
There are toy drives and food drives, and all kinds of other fun stuff going on. The stores are bustling (be kind to the workers, okay?). The restaurants are dishing out specials (be patient with those dealing with staffing shortages, okay?). The bars are back in business with live music (keep your distance from each other if you can). And the weather is cooperating: It’s brisk and sunny, when it could be really cold and wet.
So let’s be happy that we’re moving through this holiday season in decent shape this year.
In the central and southern US, they got devastated by tornadoes. We’ve been lucky the last few years. Let’s acknowledge that and be happy.
Enjoy the company of those you love, let your sense of humor take over when you have to deal with those whom you do NOT love quite so much.
And, grab some popcorn and watch a movie to warm your soul.
See you on 1/6 (unless I hit the lottery, then it’s sayonara for good!).
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays to you and yours!
