So, ugly racists have struck in Fairhaven. Someone painted “F… N—-rs” on the Rogers School (see page 4).
That bullshit should have no home here.
But, they are among us.
This stuff goes beyond hurtful. When this stuff rears its ugly head it makes people unsafe, real people, individuals who also live among us. That’s not okay.
When this stuff rears its ugly head, it hurts the psyche of the whole community. And that’s not easy to heal. That’s not okay.
When this stuff rears its ugly head, it can escalate. This….must…not…happen. When this stuff rears its ugly head, every single one of us must stomp on it and shove it back into its ugly little hole.
This stuff is not okay. It will never be okay. And we can’t tolerate it for even two seconds. There is no mitigating anything to look for here. If it truly ends up being people too young or too stupid to know how bad this was, then they need just as much ass-kicking as a white supremacist who knows exactly what he’s doing.
This is not okay.
We all need to have the courage to call it out when we see it and be a little humble when we miss it.
Meanwhile, I hope the people who were targeted by the hate are able to find others in the community who are not like that.
I personally, did not reach out to anyone. I had no clue what they were even talking about.
So, a little reminder: Facebook is random, people. Stop acting like if it’s on FB, we all know about it. We don’t.
On another note….the FHS football team is headed to the superbowl at Gillette Stadium on 11/30. See page 5 for that.
