Well, one sign of fall is here: the annual Fire Department Open House, coming up this Sunday (see page 3).
It’s lots of fun, with free pizza and really cool demonstrations. If it’s not too windy, they’ll even burn a little building. Now, who doesn’t love that?
And it’s all completely free, and you don’t even have to take a kid with you to go.
There are a lots of other events in the next few days, too. See pages 3 5, 6, 7 for both indoor and outdoor stuff all happening in the whole area.
Acushnet held a special Town Meeting this week. See page 12 for the hot topics that came up. Mostly, it was a quick work, but it did have its moments.
The Fairhaven Select Board held an extra meeting this week, too (see page 4).
They revamped the Planning, Conservation, and Tree Departments, creating a Director of Land Use position. That was basically it. The rest was all executive session stuff.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate executive session?
There’s a Bald Eagle in Acushnet. I hear one has been spotted in Fairhaven, too. I haven’t seen one yet. Considering they can fly 800 miles in a day, it’s possible everyone is seeing the same bird. Or, maybe there are a couple of them. All I know for sure is that Mike Ouimette of Acushnet got a fabulous shot of one. See page 13 for that. And, if you spot on in these parts and get a picture, please send it in.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. Make sure you notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
