These people never quit, huh?

The latest from the Planning Board is that they wanted to have a meeting with Town Meeting members and keep out the public. No surprise, huh? Real democracy lovers they are.

So, they decided to call it an “informational session” to get away with that. Really? (See page 3.)

The PB chair said at the Select Board meeting that the public would not be allowed to go. But, other town officials decided it should be open to the public…you know…the voters.

Even if the legal minds decide it is okay to keep the public out, I ask you: Are these the kind of people you want in charge of things?

The Planning Board is an elected board. The changes they are recommending will change the face of Fairhaven forever. They do not allow for a robust discourse, not even close. They allow you to speak for only two minutes in a public hearing. Then good luck asking another question. Members of the public are routinely berated and spoken to as if they were naughty children.

Really, people. This town can do better. People need to run for these positions and voters need to vote.

The local election season will start up right after the national elections. Nomination papers for local offices in both towns will be available in early December. Visit the town clerk. Find out who is up for reelection and get involved. In a democracy, our towns depend on the involvement of regular citizens. Don’t leave it to people who have no idea what they are doing, and do not care about your opinion and have no idea what democracy really means.

There’s other stuff in here, of course. Make sure you notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.

Until next week then, see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
