What a cool and crazy story we have in these pages this week. A US Marine’s diary from World War II has been returned to his family 81 years after it was lost. How cool is that?
See page 11 for the story of Leo McDermott’s diary.
Stories like this one remind me why this job is so cool. I get to meet and talk to all kinds of different and wonderful people. And then, I get to tell you all about it.
Our cover story is one of my favorites every year. The big feast in Fairhaven is always lots of fun. I have to admit that the heat sent me packing early this year. But I did manage to get some of the best malasadas on planet EARTH! See pages 12 & 13 for some fun pictures.
The fall events are coming up fast. This weekend it’s Apple-Peach and the Conrad Roy Memorial 5K (see page 3). Get an early heads up on other events on the happenings pages on 5, 6, 7. Fall events are full of fun stuff for kids, and each weekend for a while looks like it will have something fun for the whole family. So, be sure to pick up your copy of the Neighb News every week so you don’t miss anything fun.
On another note: It’s unbelievably hot out there this week, yet the birds are still gathering and chattering and getting ready to go south. They know best. So weird for those two things to be happening at the same time.
I’m holding out hope, though, that I can get a few more fishing days in.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. As you look through, be sure to notice who our advertisters are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya
