Oh, my brain is seriously ready for my summer break around the 4th. No yet… two more issues, then we take a break. So if you need any listings, have been dragging your feed on getting that ad copy in, please…do it ASAP.
Sooo… the bike path extension is finally finished. And…wow. Just wow. It’s been open for a few weeks now, so people have had a chance to check it out. But, the mucky-mucks haven’t been able to make it until now, so the official ribbon cutting wasn’t unti this wee. See page 12 for what they all had to say.
It is quite the project. It is one of those projects that makes you have so much admiration for the advocates who simply did not give up. There’s a lesson in there. So many obstacles had to be overcome. There were so many times when it seemed impossble. But some people had a vision. They could see it. And now, I’ll bet it is something beyond even what they imagined. Because in 1972 and even in 1996, they did not think they’d have the environmental issues to contend with in quite the same way. Everything is on pilings for this latest section. Anyway, check it out. There are numerous places to park that are not too far from the path. It is accessible to everyone, including wheelchair users and baby carriage pushers.
There’s a bunch of other good stuff in here, of course. The happenings season is in full swing: Father’s Day Road Race in Fairhaven, and Duck Race in Acushnet (see page 3). There’s plenty more, too. on pages 5, 6, 7.
