The voters have spoken (well, some of them anyway) and the override attempt failed (see page 12). A couple of new faces are in, and a few familiar faces are in new roles.
We had about a 24% turnout in Fairhaven and everyone says that’s great. I just looked back and the last override that failed in 2023 had a 16.6% turnout. So, I guess it’s all relative. But still, 24% is good? Heavy sigh… we are pathetic.
The summer events are starting to kick in. Acushnet had its annual fishing derby (see page 13). That’s a fun event. Always free when the Lions do it. That’s the best.
Fairhaven also had a Select Board meeting (see page 3). It was Charlie Murphy’s last meeting. I’m going to miss him. He could take a shot and let it roll off is back and not whine and cry get his little panties all in a bunch like some of these new people. He could take a joke, he could recognize a joke. And, more importantly (to me anyway), he understood what the First Amendment really is about, hint: It’s not only for the stuff you want to hear.
Have fun with less responsibility, Old Man. I’m sure we’ll be seeing you around doing the fun stuff.
There’s a bunch of other stuff in here, of course. You’ll have to thumb through to find it all. While you’re at it, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Yeah, no Big Buffoon this week. It’s too late. Gotta get this baby to bed, so no time to chronicle the misdeeds of the biggest baby in the country (wah, wah, wah, she was mean to me, I’m going to smash her little microphone and go home, and it RAINED, too, at the SAME TIME. So…so unfair)
Until next week then, see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
