Here we go…the unofficial start to summer is just a couple of days away (see page 3). Memorial Day events in Fairhaven and New Bedford mark the start of the summer season (yeah, yeah…the solstice, I know).
Meanwhile, the Fairhaven Commission on Disability has an update on what they’re up to on page 3.
The Tree Warden is taking down some old trees that have seen better days (see page 4), and the Millicent Library is undergoing some repairs that you might see as you walk around the center (see page 13).
The Huttleston Marketplace opened on a rainy Saturday, but a few die hards were out there at closing time making the best of it. See page 13 for that.
And our cover story is always a blast. More than 200 showed up for the Blessing of the Bikes on Sunday. See page 12 for that.
Acushnet had its election on Saturday. With no contested elections, there just was not much motivation for people to get out. A measly 5.8%, just a tad under 500, showed up to vote. Maybe next year.
Speaking of Acushnet. They have the same budget squeeze as evreyone else. They need to get it figured out before Town Meeting in mid-June, so…. See page 8 for that.
There’s other stuff in here, of course, including lots of happenings for the warmer weather. It seems we’ll be getting a good dose of summer this week.
So, check out each and every page. And while you’re doing that, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
