So, the train, right? On 3/24? Right? Hmm…I’ll let you know. I need to see it for myself. Maybe I even need to get on the stupid thing before I believe it.
Election day is getting close, so this week’s issue, naturally, has lots of letters and candidate stuff. See pages 12 and 13 for statements from School Committee candidates.
And on page 11, a little more about the baseball kids. I wish I had room for more pictures, but, it is election season. In any case, it’s a sign that spring is just about here. Just a few days to that first day of spring.
And on page 3 a story about White Christian Nationalism, which found its way into our local election.
After some contact with a few people, it became clear that as soon as people saw the word “Christian” they felt their religion was being attacked. This is not the case.
White Christian Nationalism is a specific thing, and it has nothing to do with the kind of life Jesus Christ told you to live. Really, people, everyone needs to stop the knee-jerk reactions to stuff. White Christian Nationalism is a racist, sexist white supremacist ideology. They believe only White Christians should be full citizens of this great country of ours that was founded on the promise equality.
They do not believe in the separation of church and state, which is the most foundational of principles creating our great country. They want us to become like the crazy-countries ruled by religious zealots.
Well, we are a pluralistic society, and our diversity isn’t going anywhere. But, with what we see happening in DC with the Big Buffoon, I think we cannot just write off this stuff. This thinking is dangerous. It’s un-American. We all need to understand it for what it is, and recognize it when it rears its ugly head.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. While you explore, please notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
