Okay, okay, I missed the tide. Embarrassing, I know. I wanted to get a shot of the water crashing over the causeway for the cover, but, alas, I missed the tide two days in a row, and then, poof…it fizzled. Then the snow came…and went.
I have a feeling the marshes are going to be pretty frozen up this week, so…maybe next week, huh?
We have lots of good stuff this week. See page 4 for the Fairhaven Select Board, and page 13 for the Acushnet Selectboard. We also have Marine Resources on page 11. Tighten the belts, guys, it’s going to cost you more.
Acushnet is facing a shortfall, and Fairhaven wants you to pay more for the services you use near the water, such as parking at boat ramps and quahogging. Yup, you paid to make ’em, maintain ’em, outfit ’em, staff ’em, and you still have to pay to use ’em. Now, we’ll have to pay even more.
A couple of fun races also seem to be shaping up in Fairhaven (see page 12). But, the field isn’t set yet. Not many people have returned papers. But, if they all do, we will have real contests for Select Board and School Committee. Meanwhile, there are some seats that might go vacant. Don’t let that happen. Contact the clerk’s office and find out how to run.
Speaking of the clerk, she said Town Meeting members need to contact her to get reelected, and newbies need to get their papers.
New Bedford had the Moby-Dick Marathon a couple of weeks ago. But did you know there is also a Frederick Douglass read-a-thon? See page 14 for details on that.
Be sure to check out ALL the pages in this week’s little miracle. And while you do, please be sure to notice who our advertises are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then, see ya
