Support Sustainable Energy and Increase Green Jobs-
At our meeting in May, the Fairhaven Sustainability Committee voted unanimously to support the 10 percent increase in renewables in the Good Energy Contract.
Fairhaven has the opportunity to be a model for other Southcoast towns by leading and supporting this initiative. We are a Green Community and should continually research ways in which Fairhaven can further improve our carbon footprint.
By agreeing to support this increase, we would also be helping our community in creating and sustaining locally sourced renewable energy, thereby creating more local jobs and boosting the economy. This small increase to the electric bill of our residents and businesses will not start until after January 2021.
We did create a survey that was on the Town’s website and also had a full page ad in the local paper. The results of the survey were favorable in all categories including seniors. Anyone is able to opt out of the increase.
We hope that the Fairhaven Selectmen vote in favor of this increase and realize how important every change is to helping our environment and creating a better future for our community.
Show your support by attending the meeting on Sept. 8th by Zoom or contacting them directly.
