From our readers: The Barnum & Bailey BOH

October 14, 2020 by Staff Writer

It’s the Barnum and Bailey Board of Health

I saw the open meeting complaint article in the 10/8/20 issue (page 11).

The Board of Health has been in chaos since DeTerra took over as Chair. According to meetings there are missing bills, documents, lost passcodes, missed phone messages, files, not aware there is a Google drive with documents on it, missing minutes, missing agendas, missing payroll, misuse of Rules of Necessity etc.

How convenient the Town Clerk’s office has all the mailings which were mailed at the same time but BOH does not. It has been like watching a circus show The Barnum and Bailey Board of Health.

My complaints are based on Massachusetts laws. The complaint is an opportunity to identify and rectify the infraction not avoid it. The laws are in place for an open and transparent government. This is exactly why I will challenge the BOH response and ask the AG for a ruling. This is not personal, it is about following the rules. I am a resident of MA and BOH is not following state law. Who I am or my sister is does not matter. What matters is 122 days have passed and minutes are still not accepted. Agendas with no details are illegal.

Why was my name and address listed? This was not done on any other citizens’ complaints? Why grandstand in the meeting about the complainer and not discuss the complaint itself? I am not hiding anything. Just another form of harassment they are known only too well for.

My suggestion is, follow the laws and I will have no complaints.

Let’s see what the Attorney General says.

PS I am an avid reader. Keep up the good work!
