Neighb News account not accurate
Last week’s edition of the Fairhaven Neighborhood News reported on the joint meeting of Finance Committee and the Selectmen relative to the newly proposed wage classification plan for non-union employees.
It was reported that I stated “it did not sit well with me.” That is not an accurate interpretation of my position on the issue.
As I stated in the meeting, I support the issue in so far as a reclassification is sorely needed. My concern lay in the fact that the plan was presented to the Finance Committee at a very late date, giving us inadequate time to vet the plan itself.
As both a taxpayer and a Finance Committee member, I want to make sure that the proposed salary adjustments are fair and equitable.
It was since decided by both the Selectmen and the Finance Committee to vote the money required, putting it aside until a fall town meeting to approve the plan per se.
The next few months will give us an opportunity to thoroughly review the recommendations.
