Friends of SMEC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing services for children and adults with disabilities, is thrilled to announce its Golden Anniversary Gala in celebration of SMEC’s 50th Anniversary. The event will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:30-10:30, at the Seaport Inn in Fairhaven, MA, marking five decades of empowering individuals with disabilities and fostering innovation within our community. Tickets for the Gala will cost $25.00 and can be purchased prior to the Gala by contacting Mrs. Sherri Tetrault, VP of Friends of SMEC, at 508-998-5599 ext. 130, or can be purchased at the door the evening of the Gala.
The Golden Anniversary Gala will be an evening of celebration, recognizing the dedication of SMEC’s staff, students, families, and supporters who have been integral to its success. The event will feature a live auction and raffle, and Friends of SMEC is currently seeking donations of gifts or gift cards to support these efforts. Donors will be recognized in the event’s printed program.
Additionally, businesses and individuals have the opportunity to support the event through advertising in the Gala Dance Program: $25, 1/4 page ad; $50, 1/2 page ad; $100, Full-page ad; $200, Table Sponsor (recognition on an event table); $500, Event Sponsor (recognition on two tables and social media)
As a fully volunteer-run organization, every dollar raised directly supports these programs, with no administrative costs deducted.
Through fundraising efforts, the organization offers: Interest-free loans to help individuals transition to independent living; Transportation and activity tickets for work and community involvement; Chaperones for young adults on outings; Field trips and classroom equipment to support educational growth
