Free presentation Keeping the American Promise: Challenging Corporate Power and Money in Politics

January 5, 2017 by Fairhave Neighborhood News

SouthCoast Progressive Voices, along with co-sponsor Citizens for Economic Justice (both sub-committees of the Fairhaven UU church’s Social Justice Committee), invites all to attend this free educational presentation at 7:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Church Auditorium, 102 Green Street in Fairhaven.

The speaker will be Jeffrey D. Clements, Founder and President of American Promise; Former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General; and author of the book  “Corporations Are Not People: Reclaiming Democracy from Big Money and Global Corporations”. This book has been deemed the definitive guide to overturning the Citizens United vs FEC Supreme Court decision and gaining control of the influence of money in our elections. Mr. Clements was CEJ’s invited speaker last year to address students and the general public on this topic at The UMass Dartmouth School of Law.

This program ties in directly with the pressing social issue of our time: “escalating inequality”. Please plan to come and hear this dynamic presentation by one of the more active advocates for us gaining back control of our democracy.
