Silent Movie
The Millicent Library is excited to announce “No Longer Silent,” historical films from the silent movie era set to live performances of contemporary composed soundtracks. We are thrilled to feature the talents of Jeffrey Angeley and Leon Stanley, who will perform their original score for the iconic 1920 silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari on Friday, June 28, at 6:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Millicent Library, 45 Center St., Fairhaven. FREE. (In case of rain, the event will move to the auditorium.)
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is celebrated as the definitive example of German Expressionist cinema. The film features unique, handmade visual art sets and early elements of horror. With numerous twists and turns, the story’s intense emotions will be beautifully portrayed through the talents of Angeley and Stanley. Their score, performed with violin, accordion, guitar, and mandolin, promises to enhance the 74-minute film’s haunting atmosphere.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of film and music at The Millicent Library. Experience the magic of silent cinema brought to life with a contemporary twist by two exceptional musicians.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fairhaven Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
