Visitors and residents are invited to New Bedford’s annual Summer Sound Series, now organized by AHA! New Bedford, delivering to downtown a lineup of musicians who will have you dancing in the streets!
The free Summer Sounds Series concerts take place on select Fridays throughout the summer, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, alternating between stages on closed portions of lower Union Street and Purchase Street.
June 20: Pearly Baker Band, Grateful Dead tribute. Part of JawsJam: A bigger Boat Block Party. Lower Union Street Stage.
June 27: Melo Green, Funk/Soul/ Rock. Purchase Street Stage

Summer Concerts
Concerts are held rain or shine. In the event of rain, join us under the pavilion or in the community room. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Acushnet Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Wed., 6/25, 6–7:30 p.m. The Summer Concert Series kicks off with 60’s Thunder! Undoubtedly, the 1960s was the big bang of popular music. No other decade can touch the number of timeless songs we still cherish from
Wed., 7/2, 6–7:30 p.m. The Pearly Baker Band is known for playing Grateful Dead music, but they don’t consider themselves a cover band—they play Dead music their way. Early on, Pearly Baker realized that the Grateful Dead had created an interesting musical template that others could use to raise the level of joy in the world, song by song, show by show.
Raffle Fundraiser
Friends of the Acushnet Public Library will be holding a 50/50 raffle at each of the Acushnet library’s Wednesday evening outdoor Summer Concert Series. The winner of the raffle will receive half of the proceeds, with half retained by the Friends to fund future programs and services at the library. Tickets are $5 each (cash only) and can be purchased during the library’s Wednesday evening Summer Concert Series (June 25 – August 6, all concerts start at 6pm). The Friends will also be accepting jewelry donations at the Wednesday concerts for their annual September jewelry sale fundraiser. Stop by the Friends Raffle table outside to donate new and gently-worn fine jewelry pieces and men’s, women’s and children’s fashion jewelry. All items should be in saleable condition; no broken pieces please.
