Runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to participate in the 17th annual Ft. Phoenix 5K Road Race/Walk. This 5k (3.1-mile) event will kick off on Sunday, September 10th at 10:00 am and is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The race will be held rain or shine.
The race net proceeds will benefit organizations as determined each year by the Race Committee within the following categories: Sports, Community, History, and Education.
Cash awards will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Medals will be awards to the top three males and females in each of eight age divisions. Division winners will win a chocolate running shoe provided by Dorothy Cox Chocolates. T-shirts provided to pre-entries.
Participants can register on-line at http://www.JBRace.com. Runners and walkers can also sign up on race morning from 8:15 to 9:30 am at Ft. Phoenix State Reservation.
The race will start at Ft. Phoenix State Beach and proceed to Green Street. Runners will head north on Green Street turning left on to South Street. They will then travel two blocks and turn right onto Main Street. They will continue on Main Street, taking a right turn onto Bridge Street, then a right turn back onto Green Street. They will stay on Green Street all the way back to Ft. Phoenix State Reservation. A water stop will be set up on Green Street.
