NeighbNews prints the First Amendment to the US Constitution on its front page so, in light of all that’s going on, I’d like to offer some thoughts on how it’s being ravaged.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof …”
The Wuhan virus (aka: COVID-19) unleashed recently by the Peoples Republic of China, is being used by governments from municipalities up to the Federal level to interfere with the free exercise of religion. People of every faith should, regardless of the abrogation of responsibility by religious “leaders”, and local “guidelines” established by politicians, that prohibit the free exercise of their religion. Attendance caps are ridiculous. Church-goers should challenge, exercise their constitutional RIGHT to attend the church of your choice without restrictions.
“… or abridging the freedom of speech, or the press…”
I fully agree with this but the Federal government choses to take the coward’s way out and ignore what is happening today. The established news outlets opt to take sides and only report what fits their respective agendas. And organizations such as Google and Facebook have opted to delete whatever doesn’t fit the current “destroy the Constitution” agenda. Gone are the days of reporting on that silly little four-letter word FACT. The “free press” now generally reports what they choose, true or not. There used to be a principle of absence of malice that prevented false reporting. Now it’s a principle of Don’t cloud the issue with Facts. The FCC is nowhere to be found.
“… the right of the people peaceably to assemble …”
Peaceful protests are, and should be encouraged. When bricks, frozen bottles of water, burning property and blinding police with lasers come into play it is assault. Too many politicians are saying that destruction of property that can be replaced doesn’t constitute a riot or a crime! And what is the political response? Take a knee, pander, defund the police and erode people’s protection. Restrict the police from protecting themselves and you. Give in to anarchy. The ultimate goal — a centralized police force at the Federal level to control us unruly taxpayers with no local/independent input.
“No one is above the law,” A quote frequently used to pursue an agenda against an individual or group. Yet each of them, with a straight face, took the following oath. Disagree and you’re a racist.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
There are elections coming up. Massachusetts is basically a one-party state with the Democrats in charge and a Republican in Name Only (RINO) in the Governor’s chair. Unemployment is 17% and our rights are being eroded by the day. Ask yourself if you’re happy with the situation and then ask yourself what you may be able to do about it. Are our so-called representatives living up to their oath of office? We must stop being “Sheeple” and go back to being “the people” this Republic was built on.
