Mayor Jon Mitchell joined with sponsor Hawthorn Medical Associates to announce that Hawthorn will sponsor the City’s 2018 Independence Day fireworks display over New Bedford Harbor, with a $10,000 contribution to support the fireworks display, continuing a long-standing tradition of company sponsorship of the annual event.
New Bedford’s Fourth of July fireworks display will be staged from a barge located off of State Pier in New Bedford Harbor, beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.
State Pier will NOT be accessible during the fireworks and there will be no parking on State Pier on the evening of July 4th. Lower Union Street (east of Water Street) will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be the best spot in the Downtown for pedestrians to view the fireworks display.
As in years past, New Bedford’s Fourth of July fireworks are made possible through the generous sponsorship of Hawthorn Medical Associates and St. Anne’s Credit Union, Fireworks partners include Tucker Roy Marine Towing and Salvage, Inc. and AGM Marine Contractors.
