On June 10, 2026, at 12:02 p.m. the Fairhaven Fire Deparment department received a dispatch from Holbrook Regional Communications for a report of smoke in the basement of 2 Forestview Drive.
Group 1 responded in Engine 4, Ladder 1 and Engine 3. Car 1, Car 2 and Car 3 also responded. A box was struck for additional off duty personnel. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from the 2 1/2 story wood frame home with solar panels.
The homeowner was on scene and stated that their animals, 1 dog and 2 cats were still inside. A fire was located and extinguished inside the rear corner of the walkout basement. Searches were conducted and the animals were removed and unharmed.
Crews remained on scene for 2 hours to overhaul and investigate the cause along with the wiring inspector. The utilities were secured along with the solar panels. Eversource was requested to cut the service to the home from the pole.
Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to the scene and Acushnet Fire-EMS responded for station coverage. No injuries were reported.
Four occupants were displaced from the residence. The cause is still under investigation by the Fairhaven Fire Department.
