Press Release
The Fairhaven High School Theatre Company is excited to be presenting this year’s fall production, Radium Girls.
Based on a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a young dial painter in the 1920s, who fights for her day in court after falling ill from radium in the plant. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could have anything to do with the terrifying illnesses among his employees.
As the case goes on, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.
Called a “powerful” and “engrossing” drama by critics, Radium Girls offers a wry, unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.
Radium Girls will be performed at Fairhaven High School on November 17th and 18th at 7PM, with a matinee on November 19th at 2PM. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Tickets are general admission and can be purchased at the link below, as well as in person before each performance. For more information, please email mrebelo@ fairhavenps.net.
