The FHS Media Production program is dedicated to motivating, inspiring, empowering and engaging all students to become life-long learners. The course is designed to introduce students to the broadcast industry that employs a rigorous technical and creative curriculum. Our core belief is to create respectful, tolerant, responsible citizens of the 21st century in  a safe and secure learning environment. By integrating state of the art technology with English, Math, and Science standards, students of the program will be allowed to unleash their full potential with the core concepts of the Broadcast Journalism and Video/Radio Production Industry.

The course reflects the standards set forth by the Video and Radio Production Vocational Technical (VTE) Frameworks and the objective contained within the sixth strand of the VTE Frameworks.

The National Student Production Awards include 23 programming and craft categories. Student honorees will receive a certificate from NATAS and a crystal pillar award with the Emmy® logo will be presented to the school.

According to Drew Furtado, Media Production Teacher at FHS, the students will watch the October 4 ceremony as it streams on the internet.

He said they found out too late to arrange to be in Washington, DC, in person.

“I know the students are crazy-thrilled and excited,” said Mr. Furtado.
