The work on the sidewalk on Ferry Street in Fairhaven is complete.
The sidewalk has been widened by about 5 1/2 feet from Main Street to Middle Street, according to Highway Superintendent Josh Crabb. The work was done earlier this month, and the benches were replaced on 4/14/25. Customers patronizing the restaurants on the block have been crowding on the sidewalks with their take-out and ice cream. The beginning of the Phoenix Bike Trail is also across the street, bringing people who are walking or on bicycles adding to the crowds.
Fairhaven’s Livable Streets Committee spearheaded the change, with the Public Works Department working with a contractor to get it done.
