Slowly, but steadily, the boats are leaving the moorings and docks around Fairhaven as the colder weather sets in.
The Summer of 2017 brought only five thunderstorms. June was dry with near normal temperatures. July was cool and had only one day of significant rain. August was cool and dry as well. September ended up being the most Summer-like with haze, heat and humidity. The average temp for June-July and August was a tad below normal at 69 degrees. The remains of four tropical storms skimmed by Fairhaven: Cindy in June, Gert in August, and the remnants of Harvey and Jose in September. The highlight of The Summer of 2017 will probably be most remembered by the Partial Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017.

This week there are still a fair number of boats, probably because the weather warmed up again, but it is starting to thin out. Traditionally, as soon as Columbus Day rolls around, boat owners start pulling their boats from the water in larger numbers. Photos courtesy of ML Baron, westislandweather.com
